When the Power of the Lord Was Present

Read Luke 5

“BE OF GOOD CHEER” - "He’ll Open Doors for You”

John 16:33 ~ "These things I have spoken to youthat in Me you might have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

Jesus seemed to specialize in things that seem impossible.

I have heard these words used all my life, and I have wondered many times, just how could one who had trials and tribulation use these words?

I have lived long enough to know that the mind plays tricks, and that most people who are the most miserable, are those who feel their own hurt and remember their own disappointments, and who are concerned about their won victories.

These folks shut themselves up in their own little world, and they fill themselves with what we call self-pity or a guilt-complex.
But you know, self-pity or a guilt-complex are always dead-end streets.
In self-pity, a person develops a feeling that no one cares and the world is unfair to him, and he is always blaming himself…

In self-pity, one becomes sorry for himself and his feelings are very easily hurt. In self-pity, in most cases, one talks a lot, to try to cover up…
He talks too much. Self-pity is a terrible thing. But you can overcome it...

...with faith in Jesus.

How can this be done?
First, by taking a good look at yourself: If you look around, you will soon discover the you are not so bad off…

If you look around….,
There was a man who had no shoes. He complained until one day he found a man who had no feet.

Job (15:7) was disturbed about his plight, until of his friends asked, “Art thou the first man that was born?”
Are you the only one….?

Look around, take a trip, visit the hospitals…

“Be of a good cheer…” whatever your plight, you can make, it if you try.

All you have to do is to ask God to help you. The hymn-writer…”O, what a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and grief to bear. What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer.”

You can make it.

“O, what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry, everything …”

Be of a good Cheer, You can make it.

I tell [God]… He will come.
you may have to wait on It…
Waiting is always good.
Waiting helps you to surrender.
The rich, young ruler wanted eternal life. O, so badly he wanted.
Judas didn’t have to commit suicide….

Waiting doesn’t mean sitting…

Then, while you are waiting, let God use you.

Use me, Lord…
I may be weak and have very little to offer, but use me.
Paul…I had a thorn in my flesh…
….’My grace is sufficient for you…’
Let God use you. Let your light shine.

A blind man carried a lantern, not to prevent him from stumbling, but to prevent others from stumbling over him.

Be of a good cheer, you can make it.
